The end of independent journalism?

The Story:

Matt Drudge claims to have been told that a member of the Supreme Court told him that he's done, he's toast, that "they have the votes," that the move is underway to ban the linking of stories. "You're finished."

The Problem:

1) It's hard to believe, though I trust Matt Drudge, that a SCOTUS member would tell him he's toast. That's not right. Court members don't and shouldn't do ex-parte communications with any parties, interested or disinterested.

2) It's on Alex Jones's Info Wars, which I don't trust. I think Jones's intellect is a fraction of Drudge's or Limbaugh's.

3) A link to a website is not copyright violation. Content is at the site linked to, not in the site. How can a link be content?

4) Links to sites drive traffic to the sites. How can that be copyright violation.

The reason: I'm posting this to re-start my own website in case this is true. If true, civil disobedience will have to go major. Hillel says, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?" -Hillel, Ethics of the Fathers, 1:14
